Course Description

BHS 306 Introduction to Health Information Management is designed to provide students with foundational knowledge of the principles, systems, and practices involved in the management of health information within healthcare settings. The course explores the collection, storage, retrieval, protection, and use of patient and healthcare data to support clinical care, administration, research, and policy-making. Students will be introduced to health records management, health information systems, data quality, confidentiality, legal and ethical considerations, and the role of information technology in healthcare delivery. Emphasis is placed on the importance of accurate and secure health information in improving healthcare outcomes and organizational efficiency.
